Deepan Raj is the founder of Deep Audiobooks, a platform built on his passion for Tamil storytelling and his vision of creating a dedicated space for Tamil audiobooks.
Known by his pen name, Deep Talks Deepan, he is a writer, storyteller, narrator, and audio producer with a background in media, digital content creation, and radio broadcasting.
His work brings together multiple aspects of storytelling — from writing original stories and narrating them to producing and editing the audio that brings those stories to life.
Deepan’s journey in digital content creation began with Deep Talks Tamil, a YouTube channel focused on Tamil history, culture, and meaningful storytelling.
Alongside this, his interest in audiobooks led him to launch Deep Tamil Audiobooks as a dedicated channel for sharing stories through audio.
His experience as a Radio Jockey helped him develop an understanding of voice modulation, narration, audience engagement, and the art of communicating through sound. These skills continue to influence his approach to audiobook narration and audio storytelling.
Over time, storytelling became more than just a matter of writing or speaking. It became a creative process that brought together writing, performance, sound, and production.
As a writer, Deepan creates stories that reflect his interest in storytelling and engaging narratives. Under his pen name, Deep Talks Deepan, he continues to develop his identity as a storyteller.
As a narrator, he uses his voice to bring characters, emotions, and events to life. His experience in radio broadcasting has helped shape his narration style, allowing him to approach stories with an understanding of vocal expression, pacing, and listener engagement.

Driven by a passion for Tamil stories, Deepan launched the Deep Tamil Audiobooks YouTube channel to bring audiobooks to Tamil-speaking audiences. As the channel developed, he experienced the challenges of depending entirely on a third-party platform for publishing and distributing audiobook content. Changes in YouTube policies and the difficulties faced by creators, including his own experience, prompted him to think about a more independent and sustainable approach to Tamil storytelling.
He recognised that relying on a single platform could limit the opportunities to publish and share the stories he wanted to bring to listeners. This led him to a fundamental question — the one above.
That question became the starting point for the vision behind the Deep Audiobooks app.
Deepan wanted to create a dedicated digital destination focused exclusively on Tamil stories, where listeners could discover audiobooks across genres without depending solely on a video-sharing platform.
The vision was to bring together Tamil novels, detective fiction, short stories, and other engaging literary works in one place, making them accessible through a convenient listening experience.
More importantly, he wanted to build a platform with a clear identity — one dedicated to Tamil storytelling and designed around the needs of audiobook listeners.
Although Deepan writes, narrates, and produces audio for stories in his own voice, his vision for Deep Audiobooks extends far beyond his individual work.
He believes that Tamil storytelling can grow through the contributions of many writers, narrators, and creative professionals. A dedicated audiobook platform can bring these different voices together and help a wider range of Tamil stories reach listeners.
Deep Audiobooks is built around this broader vision: not just a platform for one creator’s stories, but a home for Tamil stories brought to life through many voices.
